As I always say, Toy Fair New York has come and gone, but the memories remain. I have so much to tell you about! This was my eighth visit to Toy Fair, and although much has changed over the years, one thing stays the same: everything* I saw at the show will eventually make its way to this blog and to you, dear reader, so you can go out there and find the best toys, gifts, collectibles, and more. I have many gift guides to plan this year, as well as round-up posts like this one.
*Yes, everything will make its way here, except what I saw at LEGO, because that was super top-secret and I signed a NDA. Sorry.
Anyway, here are the hot toy trends I found at Toy Fair New York, as well as 10 of my favorites for 2025.
Disclosure: this is not a sponsored post. I attended TFNY as a member of the media, and all opinions here are my own. No one paid me to feature their items, and if you see multiple recommendations from one company, it's just because I loved them. This post contains Amazon affiliate links, which you can read more about on my Disclosure page. I did obtain some toy samples, but I only featured my favorites here.
Trends, Trends, Trends
First things first. Here are some of the trends I noticed this year. Many booths did not allow me to take photos, so I apologize for the lack of visuals.
Slime
First things first. Here are some of the trends I noticed this year.slime, slime, slime. If you thought it was gone, think again! I feel like slime was in almost every booth I visited (except LEGO! lol). My favorites: Kawaii Slime Company with their DIY slime stations and creative combos, and CraZArt with their fun scent choices.
Disney's Stitch
Another trend I saw was Stitch. Disney's live-action version of Lilo & Stitch will be in theaters this May, and brands have really jumped on the Stitch bandwagon (I think the movie is going to be a big hit so I can see the desire to create more Stitch toys, for sure). My favorites: Stitch Collectible Figures from Just Play
Stranger Things
A third trend I noticed was Stranger Things. Since the new season is coming soon, there were plenty of Stranger Things plush, board games, action figures, puzzles, and so much more. Many of the Stranger Things toys were off-limits for photos, though, since (as of the publication date of this post), the series 5 premiere date is unknown. My favorites (that I can tell you about): BumBumz Stranger Things plush from Jazwares.
Snoopy
Not gonna lie, I was super excited to see so many Snoopy items at Toy Fair this year. Snoopy is celebrating a 75th anniversary in 2025 (can ya believe it?), so of course he needs to be celebrated. My favorites: CraZArt world's largest Snoopy puzzle, Aurora's 75th Anniversary Snoopy Plush.
80's & 90's Pop Culture
This retro pop-culture trend never seems to die, and as a proud kidult and GenXer, I'm totally here for it. You'll see plenty of 80's and 90's nostalgia this year, including new products featuring Lisa Frank, My Little Pony, Care Bears (Care Bears everywhere!), Tamagotchi, and tons of Sanrio/Hello Kitty.
My Favorite Finds
Calico Critters
Calico Critters never cease to amaze me. They're always one of my favorites at the show, and this year they have such a whimsical, magical line including the Skytop Fairy Castle, Fantastical Fairytale Friends, and even a whimsical seaside theme with a sea otter family and a baby ocean adventure ship. My favorites: the deer baby swing tree and sea otter family
1. FurReal Maggie the Feed & Follow Cow
Top Pick: Maggie the Feed & Follow Cow stole my heart. She has over 50 sounds and reactions and a cute little wiggly walk that makes her oh so adorable. I especially loved her big cow eyes and eyelashes. Available Fall, 2025.
2. Tame & Train Interactive Toothless the Dragon, coming 2025 from Spinmaster
3. BLDR Sets from Jazwares, most available now or coming soon
4. Hello Kitty & Friends Articulated Figures, coming in 2025 from Jazwares
6. Gabby's Meow-Mazing Dollhouse Playset from Gabby's Dollhouse the Movie - Fall, 2025
7. LEGO Bluey sets, coming soon
8. Basic Fun Care Bears Sweet Serenity Bear, coming Spring, 2025 from Basic Fun
I know Care Bears have been around forever, but Basic Fun has some awesome new additions coming to the Care Bears line, including different types of fur, colors and styles. They wouldn't let me take photos of a single thing (not even of items that are currently on the market, go figure) so darned if I can show you what they look like. But the Sweet Serenity Bear's belly, paw pads, and ears feature different textures for a soothing sensory experience.
9. Candy Bears from Yoonique Toys
Okay, okay, so these weren't at Toy Fair but they should have been. I adore the Candy Bear plush line from Yoonique Toys. Their bright colors, various sizes, adorable faces, and embroidered eyes/nose/mouth/feet make them super soft and cuddly. Definitely keep these in mind for 2025. Right now you can find them at Five Below.
10. Squishmallows (new styles coming throughout 2025)
Squishmallows fans are so excited about these. I can't tell you how many messages I received about them after the show. The love of the SquishSquad is real! There are so many new styles coming, including Bluey, Gremlins, Corpse Bride, Nightmare Before Christmas, Pokemon, seasonal squad members, just to name a few.
