Baby/Toddler Book Choice

I was a huge fan of Yo Gabba Gabba when my son was a baby, so I was thrilled to see that DJ Lance Rock actually has his own kids' book out there called The ABC's of Awesomeness. It's on Amazon but often sells out, so you can also check DJ Lance's website here. Paperback, recommended for baby-5 years. 28 pages.

Picture Book Choice

I know there are AMAZING picture books o the market. So many, in fact, that you don't even need me to recommend those to you. So I picked a classic, an old favorite called There's No Such Thing as a Dragon by Jack Kent. It's all about a little boy who finds a baby dragon and the adorable illustrations by Kent will stay in your heart forever. Paperback, 32 pages, recommended for ages 3-6.

Early Chapter Book Choice

The Dragon Realm of Savra is where young dragons, known as Small Flames, compete in the yearly Fire Ridge Tournament to become Valor Dragons. Each Small Flame has a different story in A.M. Luzzader's Small Flame series. Kids can read about Zuri the Golden Dragon, Enzo the Red Dragon or Jory the Orange Dragon. The illustrations by Joshua Bostwick are beautiful. Paperback, 90 pages, recommended for ages 7-9.

Young Adult (YA)/ Teen Choice

Everything Sad is Untrue by Daniel Nayeri is both beautifully written and sad. I recommend this one to adults as well as teens and tweens. It reminds me in some ways of Yann Martel's Life of Pi, although the stories are completely different. This one is about a boy who grew up as a refugee and what he endured. But it's also about love and family and everything in between. Hardcover, 368 pages, recommended for ages 12 and up.

Just for Fun- Spider-Man: The Official Cookbook

Cookbooks contain words, too, and if you have a reluctant reader, check out Spider-Man: The Official Cookbook. This cookbook was sent to me as a sample and I loved it! Full color photos, great for all skill levels, this book has over 60 recipes with a 'New York' theme. Recipes include prosciutto mozzarella sandwich, yakisoba, bubble tea, carnitas tacos, and many more. Recipes are not complex and the book is great for adult Marvel fans, too! It's narrated by Spider-Man and features contributions from Miles Morales, Ghost-Spider and more heroes from across the Spider-Verse. Hardcover, color, 160 pages. Makes a great gift, too!
