A Weekend Getaway to Omni Mt. Washington Resort: Hotel Review, Overview and Video Walkthrough

Saturday, August 17, 2024
If you're looking for an amazing getaway to a stunning historic resort, then I have the place for you! Omni Mt. Washington Resort is the perfect location to relax and unwind - to sit and watch the clouds roll by or the lush green mountains casting shadows below. I can't say enough good things about New Hampshire and this particular Omni, so read on for details. No time? Then scroll through my bold headings to find what you're looking for or watch my walkthrough video of Omni Mt. Washington on YouTube (included in this post).

Disclaimer: I actually won an overnight stay to Omni Mt. Washington but this prize did not cover meals, snacks, travel expenses or any other amenities at the hotel. So rest assured my opinion is honest and all thoughts are my own. This post is NOT sponsored or paid for by Omni and I received no monetary compensation for writing it.

A Note from The Jersey Momma

Before we venture down Review Road together, let me make something clear- don't bother messaging me, commenting or trolling that "this hotel is old and rooms are dated, blah blah." This hotel was built in 1902, y'all, and YES the rooms are older and YES the furniture is older and YES the rooms are small. The same holds true for Hotel Hershey, The Grand Hotel and other historic hotels of this caliber that are trying to maintain their authenticity. That being said, I am also a bit of a hotel snob, so I get it. Rooms should be clean and everything in them should be in working order. I love nostalgia, but I also love modern comforts, so if you're like me, then you'll appreciate the Presidential Wing that the Omni Mt. Washington also offers. You're obviously going to pay more for this, but if you can swing it and you're a hotel snob like me, then splurge for the newer, more updated rooms. But more on that in a minute.

Omni Mt. Washington Location and Property

This resort is located in the heart of the White Mountains of New Hampshire, with incredible views of Mt. Washington and the sparkling Ammonoosuc River. Bretton Woods is wonderful any time of year- in the winter it's transformed into a magical skiing wonderland, with nearby mountains, winter sleigh rides and festive holiday decor. In the Fall the mountains put on a show of their own as the trees change color. We visited in Summer, when it wasn't too hot and still cool at night. Butterflies were around every corner and there were nature trails, horseback rides, golfing, swimming, shopping and fun restaurants in town to choose from. The proximity to Vermont, Canada, New York State, and the scenic Kancamagus Highway leaves so much to explore. Don't forget to take the Cog Railway to the Mt. Washington Summit! It's just a short drive from the resort.

Rooms and Accomodations

We were scheduled to stay in a standard deluxe room with two queen beds when we visited Omni Mt. Washington but they were kind enough to upgrade us to the Presidential Wing upon our arrival. I was SO grateful for this! As I mentioned before, I'm a bit of a hotel snob so I appreciate modern amenities over the historic feel. Some people prefer the opposite, actually, especially in a historic hotel. They offer a variety of different rooms at the actual Omni Mt. Washington (you can also book at the Omni Bretton Woods Inn, nearby, but know that this is a separate building at the grounds next door). They offer traditional, deluxes, corner vistas, premier king rooms, premier queen rooms, and family suites. There are also luxury suites (I told you there were a lot of choices!). I suggest speaking with a representative directly at this resort to help you book the room that best suits you.

The Presidential Wing offers a more modernized feel with exclusive access to the Presidential Club. The Club includes:
-Complimentary continental breakfast
-Complimentary afternoon social with refreshments including beer and wine
-Personalized concierge services
-Complimentary daily snacks
-Large screen TVs
(these amenities are NOT offered to groups or if you received a complimentary upgrade like we did)

Presidential Wing rooms also have:
-Views from Private balcony or patio** (most rooms- ours did not have a balcony)
-Large, well-appointed bathroom with marble floor and vanity
-Enclosed shower with rainfall shower head
-Luxurious soaking tub
-Enhanced bath amenities and plush robes
-50 inch Flat screen TV
-Keurig coffee maker
-Mini refrigerator
-Conveniently located adjacent to The Spa
-Private entryway to outdoor pool
-Nightly turn-down service
-Dedicated concierge service with pre-arrival planning assistance

Dining

There are a variety of restaurants to choose from at Omni Mt. Washington, as well as some nearby. There is also room service available, but we did not use that during our stay.

1902 Main Dining Room - upscale dining but the food was amazing
Stickney's Restaurant - pricey but food was delicious and service was excellent
The Cave - drinks were expensive here but we were so curious to try this 'secret' prohibition-era hangout
Rosebrook Bar - cocktails, mocktails, beer, wine and bar bites with a stunning view
Observatory Bar (this was not open when we visited, opens seasonally)

Kids Activities, Amenities and Pools

There are three pools at Omni Mt. Washington Resort. One is a kiddie pool with zero entry, one is a standard outdoor pool (I've been told it's open year round! Imagine that!), and one is an indoor pool. There is also a hot tub located indoors and one outdoors, as well.

There is a Kids Club for guests offering activities and more, so be sure to inquire before arrival if this is something you're interested in.

Other amenities and entertainment that the hotel offers: game room, horseback riding, trails, carriage rides, golf, spa, tennis, and more. Check with the hotel website for all of their offerings, especially since they vary seasonally!

Before You Book

Before you book anything, be sure to sign up for Omni Select Guest program (find this on their website where it says 'Loyalty'). This way you can earn points towards future Omni stays, as well as other perks like drink coupons, shoe shines and clothing presses. It's free and worth joining - I have stayed in several Omnis over the years and I've already racked up points and perks (I love the drink coupons! That's my favorite).
