Is it as Good as the Book?
During an interview with Netflix Media, Producer Julia Pistor had this to say about her connection with author Kate DiCamillo: "When I was in conversation to make THE MAGICIAN’S ELEPHANT into a film all those years ago, I told Kate that I had a young daughter who loved her work; Kate took the
time to write a letter to my daughter, totally unsolicited, to say how glad she was to hear that my daughter loved her books. We still have that letter to this day. Kate was present to make sure it was in the hands of the right people, and I’ve touched base with her over the years during our various stages of development. She was delighted to have her book adapted for film and that her story can reach an even wider audience. She knows how important it was to all of us to be true to the spirit and themes of the original story. Kate is an empowering partner and artist and has given us the room to make adjustments and additions in order to deliver the best cinematic experience. It made us all so happy when she told us how much she loves this movie."
