Disney100: The Exhibition is now open at The Franklin Institute, and Disney fans are not going to want to miss it! It was created for the 100-year celebration of The Walt Disney Company, and immerses guests in the beloved stories that have been dazzling the public since 1923. This was when Walt Disney set his company on a path that would revolutionize the entertainment industry! The world premiere of the exhibit opened on February 18, 2023, at The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, PA, with Chicago, IL, and Kansas City, MO, set as the next two stops on the North American tour. The international unit of the exhibit will open on April 18, 2023, in Munich, Germany, with more cities to be announced in the coming months.

“The Franklin Institute is thrilled to host Disney100: The Exhibition, the first major event to mark the global celebration of Disney’s 100 years, allowing fans throughout the Philadelphia region and beyond the very first opportunity to see these crown jewels come to life in beautifully crafted galleries reflecting the creative empire synonymous with imaginative storytelling, innovation, discovery, and wonder,” said President and CEO of The Franklin Institute Larry Dubinski.
Over the past 100 years, Disney has brought its iconic stories and characters to life in new and innovative ways, becoming part of the global culture and creating generations of memories for billions. Disney100: The Exhibition invites guests to step into their favorite stories using innovation and immersive technology throughout ten galleries in the 15,000-square-foot exhibit. The Walt Disney Archives opens its vault of treasures, showcasing hundreds of extraordinary objects, including
many of Disney’s “Crown Jewels” - more than 250 rarely seen original artworks and artifacts, costumes and props, and other memorabilia. Disney has curated special behind-the-scenes glimpses into the creation of the most popular characters, films, shows, and attractions – from Disneyland to Walt Disney World® Resort and beyond. The ten magnificent and imaginatively themed galleries, with moving stories, unique interactive installations, and exciting background information, will take visitors on a journey through 100 years of The Walt Disney Company, celebrating the classics from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs to Strange World, as well as the latest members of the Disney family – Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel, and National Geographic.

Jersey Momma Tips for Visiting
-Strollers are welcome in the museum. But large toddler carriers, double-sided strollers, and jogging strollers are not allowed in special exhibition galleries due to space constraints.
-Don't forget your Disney gear! I saw so many fun outfits- it's cute to wear your Mickey ears or Minnie dress to this exhibit. Some people really got into it!
-There is a specialized souvenir shop at the end of the exhibit with Disney posters, Disney 100 t-shirts, Funko POP figures, books, and more.
-This is a timed-entry exhibit. You may only enter at the specific time you chose when purchasing the tickets. At high-volume times like weekends and holidays, it may take up to 25 minutes to enter the exhibit.
-Try not to arrive early to the exhibit entrance, since that will only add to your time in the queue (you can walk around the rest of the museum until your entry time).
-For daytime ticket holders, you can arrive to the museum anytime after 9:30am to experience the general museum before entering the exhibition. You can also purchase just a ticket to the Disney 100 experience (but I don't recommend that- the rest of the museum is cool!!)
-If you purchased a general admission ticket, be sure not to miss anything. After we left we realized we missed an entire exhibit about the brain! Bummer!!
-Your general admission ticket also includes a planetarium show, so check the schedule to see what's playing!
-Parking at The Franklin Institute garage is a flat $20 fee.
-We did not eat at the museum because hubby insisted on driving through Philly to find some authentic cheesesteaks. But there is a small grab and go cafe at the museum if you want to eat there.
