Start making some day trip plans! One of our favorite places to visit, The Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum, has a wonderful event planned for kids. The Intrepid Museum will host its annual Kids Week festival this year from Saturday, February 19th–Saturday, February 26th. During Kids Week, children of all ages and interests will learn about STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math) through fun-filled activities, live animal shows, hands-on workshops, performances, special guests and interactive demonstrations designed to educate and inspire.
Disclosure: I was given tickets to the Intrepid in exchange for promotion of Kids Week. You can read about my previous trip to the Intrepid here.
About Kids Week
This year, Kids Week will feature three days of programming from NASA including full-scale models of the Mars Perseverance rover and Ingenuity helicopter. NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory will be on hand with Mars scientists and engineers offering demonstrations and exhibitions. NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center will highlight their latest moon habitat concepts, technology and planetary mission plans and Goddard Space Flight Center will show how their communication and navigation services are essential for NASA’s space flight. Kids can also meet Astronaut Victor J. Glover, Jr. and hear about his experiences in space!
Additional programming throughout Kids Week will include a chance for kids to make their own Mission Patch or Mars Rover, learn how to engineer and safely land a space vehicle, participate in a paper airplane challenge, get up-close to some of the animal kingdom’s coolest creatures, and create their own video game.
Kids Week programming partners include the American Society of Civil Engineers, Ballet Hispánico School of Dance, Billion Oyster Project, The Little Prince on Broadway, The Brooklyn Nets, The Climate Museum, Columbia’s Society of Women Engineers, Future Change Makers Academy, Gazillion Bubble Show, Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory, Mad Science, NASA, ROBOFUN, and Two by Two Animal Haven.
