1. Wizards and Werewolves Backyard Fun
I finally found something that teens and tweens can enjoy for Halloween. It's an awkward time for them, right? They are on that borderline of being 'too old' for Halloween but still wanting to enjoy it. Enter Wizards and Werewolves from Starlux Games! This glow-in-the-dark game is part hide and seek, tag, and scavenger hunts all wrapped up in one. Perfect for epic backyard fun, play in the dark or at dusk for best results, since the game pieces glow. Recommended for ages 8 and up, for 4-10 players. The kit contains 2 Star Crystals, 5 Wizard Amulets, 1 Moon Crystal, and 10 Role Cards. The entire set is reusable and comes with batteries. The directions are clear and easy to follow with different options for gameplay and levels. You can find it on Amazon here.
2. Calico Critters Spooky Surprise House and Trick or Treat Trio
Full disclosure: I actually ordered this little Calico Critters house for myself. Who says it has to be for kids? I love displaying my seasonal Calico Critters items on a little shelf in my kitchen. This Spooky Surprise House has two floors and a little black cat dressed like a ghost. Or pick up the Trick or Treat Trio set, which features three iconic Calico Critters figures in adorable costumes. Find the Spooky Surprise House here and the latest edition of the Trick or Treat Trio (dressed as ninjas) on Amazon here.
3. Boo Hollow: Pumpkin Showdown
This would not be a Jersey Momma round-up post without a Funko mention! Boo Hollow Pumpkin Showdown is a 'silly, spooky card game' from Funko Games and features the adorable characters of Boo Hollow. It's a fast-paced card game for ages 6 and up (3-6 players). Play pumpkin cards to throw pumpkins at the other players, but watch out—they can play cards right back! Roll the special die to grab more pumpkins or dodge out of the way at the last second and try not to get the hit card. You can order it at Walmart here.
4. Halloween Squishmallows
This would not be a Jersey Momma round-up post without Squishmallows, too!! These therapeutic, huggable, addictive plush characters have taken the world by storm. I'm an avid collector and fan, since the very first time I saw them at Toy Fair New York. Their Halloween line is totes adorbs, but good luck finding them as they sell like hotcakes. If you see 'em, buy 'em! That's the Squishmallow collector's motto, I think. Where to look: Walgreens, Five Below, Learning Express, Claire's, Target, some Hallmark stores and specialty shops, some supermarkets.
5. Retro Scratch and Sniff Stickers
Ah, the smell o' the 80's!! Do you remember it? Fun Trend Stinky Stickers and albums of awesome sticker collections to trade and keep. Everything Smells has totally recreated the magic with her own line of smelly stickers. Her Halloween collection is a must-have, and they're perfect for decorating the envelopes of your Halloween cards. You do still send out Halloween cards, don't you?? Find these stickers and more amazing stuff at EverythingSmells.com or check out my review of their scratch and sniff sticker club!
Bonus Idea: Spooky Scary Jixelz
Jixelz from Fat Brain Toys are among my favorite puzzles for kids (and adults!). Each Spooky Scary Jixelz sets come with 150 precision-cut, micro jigsaw pieces for building a design (witch, a jack-o-lantern, or Frankenstein's Monster). Best part? They're under 5 bucks!
Happy Halloween!!!
